Have A Meat Lasagna For A Great Family Dinner

If you are looking for a great idea for one of your dinners this week, why not consider meat lasagna. This tasty Italian dish, when combined with hearty bread and a salad makes a great meal.

Meat lasagna is a combination of good pasta sauce, ground beef, mozzarella cheese, cottage or ricotta cheese and Italian spices. Each of the ingredients is layered in a pan and the lasagna is cooked until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Unlike other pasta dishes, lasagna can be made using uncooked pasta. The wide lasagna noodles can simply be layered in the pan with all the wet ingredients. Baking may take a little longer, but you will never know that they were not cooked beforehand.

An alternative meat lasagna uses chicken, Alfredo sauce and also has vegetables in the layers of the pan.

If you are a vegetarian, the lasagna could be made with veggies instead of meat. You could substitute spinach, zucchini and even carrots. Then just make your preference of sauce, whether it be red or white. This alternative is just as great tasting and much healthier than meat.

If you are craving lasagna but are cutting the carbohydrates, try using your traditional lasagna recipe but substitute steamed cabbage leaves for the lasagna noodles. The flavor of this casserole is reminiscent of traditional lasagna and may fool your taste buds.

To bake the lasagna, you need a casserole dish that is at least three to four inches deep. Because of the noodle’s shape, rectangular and square pans work better.

If you are lacking the deep dish casserole dish, you should consider getting an aluminum pan that is disposable. You can find them at any of the grocery stores in your area. They also make it so that you can freeze some ahead of time for a dinner next week. Plus, they do make clean-up time a lot easier.

On days when someone asks me what can I cook with the ingredients I have, I answer Meat Lasagna! Fast and easy to make with items that I have in my pantry all the time!
