4 Weight Loss Myths Unmasked by Washington, DC Weight Loss Expert

Weight loss is a huge industry full of large companies and pharmaceuticals who all want you to use their products or tips. This has led to more than one myth circulating the world about weight loss. Recently a Washington, DC weight loss expert discovered four very popular myths and set out to debunk them one by one!

Myth #1- All calories are exactly the same- This is a senseless myth, because it means that you would not put on weight even if you got your daily required amount of 1500- 2000 calories from junk food. The authorities have known for almost 5 decades that the source of the calories is equally important as the amount of calories you take in.


In case common rational is not enough a study was conducted in which participants were given only 1000 calories per day to stimulate weight loss, the only difference was the type of calories they received and the results tell the tale:

* Calories – 1000, Type – 90% fat, weight lost per day – 0.9 pounds * Calories – 1000, Type – 90% protein, weight lost per day – 0.6 pounds * Calories – 1000, Type – 90% carbs, weight lost per day – none (gained a small amount of weight)

Myth #2- Low Carb high protein diets are harmful- This myth has been proved wrong by a lot of studies that have been conducted over the years. Essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids are a few things that the body requires, but it does not say anywhere that the body cannot survive without carbohydrates/sugar. For many years aboriginal tribes have lived on animal products alone without ever suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes or heart trouble.

Myth #3- Juices are healthy- This is probably the biggest myth of all in that everyone has believed it! To create a glass of orange juice it takes the sugar of five oranges. There is as much sugar in a glass of OJ as there is in many sodas and yet you have been sold the myth that this is actually healthy for you. You might think that even though it is high in sugar and calories it is still good for you nutritionally, nope because most of the vitamins are lost during the extraction process.

Myth #4- Moderate Drinking can be good for you- This is another myth that has been widely circulated. A study was aimed at proving that those who drank alcohol in moderation outlive those who did not drink at all. The results that alcohol does your body some good were inaccurate.

The group of non drinkers they put together comprised of past alcoholics and people that are not well enough to drink, so the results of the study went askew. How could the life expectancy of a former abusive drinker or a person not fit enough to be drinking in the first place be longer? The red wine theory is also quite deceiving since you need not drink wine to receive the benefits to your health that grapes has to offer. Alcohol also does not do you any good in the weight loss department, because it stimulates fat storage and muscle loss. It would serve you well to keep your distance from it, if you are looking to get in shape.

A bit of reasoning would be enough to set the record straight about most of the myths that you have heard, you really did not require a weight loss specialist from Washington, DC to make things clear. But it must be noted that over 15 years of testing and research is behind the facts revealed about these myths. Only once you understand the truth about the weight loss myths and avoid them, will you be able to get into shape.
